Production: Colorful opera open air concert with diverse repertoire by Koor Op Zuid completed with a mixed Turkish choir from the neighborhood, accompanied by a good professional Sas player. Location is the field behind BSO De Wissel at the Spoorweghaven. The building of de Wissel lends itself well to the acoustics and also offers a fall-back opportunity to sing in the school building if the weather is bad. The field is large and also has a playground for children. Koor op Zuid is a choir for and by Rotterdammers in the neighbourhood. The different cultural backgrounds of the choir members are reflected in the various repertoire. Last year during the Rotterdam Opera Days a first concert took place of Koor op Zuid in the Peperklip in Feyenoord. This year is a second concert in the green city hallway of the Spoorweghavenpark. The repertoire covers different corners of opera, folk and world music. An elusive choir and desolate fog horns surround 4 sopranos who sing the sea while moving through the twilight zone between water and land, light and dark. Production: Bauwien van der Meer is the creator of the project Fantastic Women which is being developed right now in cooperation with the November Music festival. Fantastic women is a performance with the stature of a song recital (vocals and piano) and the vibrancy of a variety act. The theme of this project is women's issues: ten composers address the position of women in 2017, on the basis of penetrating music and (in many cases their own) texts. During the November Music festival in Den Bosch it will have its premiere.
